Painting Resistance
Reflecting on feminist body politics and expanding these ideas through collective practice
This workshop invites participants into a space of trust and openness, beginning with a brief collective introduction before moving into a creative exploration of the body as a political, performative, and resistant territory.
Rooted in the themes of the exhibition Hosiery Snip Space to a Triangular Racing Lace, the session reflects on feminist body politics and expands these ideas through collective practice. Through sensory warm-ups, movement, and material play, participants reconnect with their physical presence, allowing intuition and embodied memory to guide their creative gestures. The workshop culminates in the creation of a large collective artwork formed by the dynamic interaction between those moving beneath a shared piece of fabric and those painting its surface from above.
Abstract marks, emotional rhythms, and photographic documentation of the process are later integrated into the final piece, transforming it into a testament to our shared action. By engaging the body in motion, expression, and collaboration, the workshop becomes a space to reclaim embodiment as a site of resistance, storytelling, and collective transformation.
