More art in public spaces, please.

Last week I went to see this new exhibition which takes all over the King’s Cross station area to Granary Square (for those in London). It is curated by Hols Hay and shows the work of Christina de Middel, Lindokuhle Sobekwa and Olivia Arthur, who travelled to PEACE FOR ALL projects in Vietnam, Ethiopia and Romania to photograph the lives of people supported by the charity. Alongside these profound photographs, the exhibition features artwork created by these families, made in workshops hosted by these photographers. I absolutely loved it!

I can give you a long list of the benefits of having art outdoors but, mostly, apart from our own developments and understanding the world, it can bring a sense of community. And it can challenge the landscape too.

This exhibition is a celebration of the launch of Uniqlo new store at Coal Drops Yard and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Capitalism vs real life experiences of underrepresented groups you know…But I’m here to celebrate Peace x All and Magnum Photos partnership. Looking forward to seeing more initiatives line this in the near future.
