Finally I had the chance to feel physically the power and beauty of the Sirkhane Darkroom project at the Photobook Cafe. This project is a mobile photography project for children near the border between Türkiye and Syria.

In the darkroom, children who normally have little or no access to cultural opportunities, get to shoot, develop and print their photography which is mainly about their daily lives and a sense of survival in difficulty.

Do you know…

Photography can be a pedagogic method enabling children to know themselves better, it can teaches them new ways of thinking, creativity, and being playful while expanding their perspective of their life and the world! And it was amazing to see how this simple but effective exhibition could transfer that pedagogic bits to anyone who visits it. Drawing in a wall? Oh, yes!
