The invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022 shocked the world. And still going…Yet for those living in Donbas and Crimea, the harsh reality of war has loomed since 2014.

Its impact on the everyday lives of Ukrainian civilians is the subject of this new photography exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London presenting photographs from Anastasia Taylor-Lind during her time in Ukraine between 2014 and June 2022. War photography and photojournalism during conflict can have many faces and that’s what triaged me, not the destruction but rather the civilians perspective and the sense of community, which is sometimes difficult to document.

A simple, small, white cube exhibition, well curated and focused in the civilians with such respect. Loved how it starts and finishes with the same photograph of a civilian/soldier, just before and after combat. You need to go and check this exhibition out.
