Transfeminisms is a major survey touring exhibition that brings to light a multiplicity of urgent, pressing and ongoing issues faced by women, queer and trans people around the world. Finally I got the chance to see the 4th chapter which celebrates community, collective ritual, and ancestors, drawing on the sacred interconnectedness, acts of resilience, spirituality, and healing.

Devotional wallpapers and placards welcome you, a clear sign to speak out within the topics that you will see around. An ancestral voice comes from the back of the gallery and, if you follow the voice, you will see an amazing video installation but what was shocking and genius was the levitating textile works where the chimney is (although it worked as a kind of an altar to me).

Not sure how I feel about two floor spaces/exhibitions because you need to walk back and the flow minimises but, in this case, the mystery, the spirituality, the resilience, and voices in the background continues. Like if there is a sort of female spirit guiding you. Or at least to me because I was by myself at Mimosa House. An holistic experience.

In general, this exhibition feels like an experience of care and kinship while being inclusive and decolonial. And I’m here for that.
